The Long Road Ahead - Traditional Irish Early Intermediate Piano Solo Sheet Music

Early Intermediate [Level 3B-4] Piano Solo | Ragtime

Traditional Irish Jig "The Road to Lisdoonvarna." Arranged by Phoenix Vera.

This is an early intermediate (equivalent to Piano Adventures Level 4) piano solo using an old Irish tune.

The title of this arrangement, A Long Road Ahead, is a hint at the tune's original title--The Road to Lisdoonvarna--but also influenced by the fact that I was reading The Hobbit as I wrote this piece!

Set in 12/8 time, this is traditionally a fast jig, but I have put a "pianistic spin" on it. Utilizing various forms of 5ths in the left hand, the piece takes the listener on a journey from strong, low bass "hits" to lyrical eighth note lilting arpeggios.

A student entering into the intermediate realm will find the winding melody challenging, thus I have kept it in its original key of E Minor (1 sharp). It is modal (Dorian mode) and therefore Cs are sharp, but they have been marked as such.
