Helpful Printing Tips:
★ MUST be printed on heavy cardstock paper (otherwise students can see the answer through the paper)
★ I recommend a paper weight of at least 65 pounds
★ MUST be printed double-sided.
- Print pages 3-12 on 5 pieces of cardstock double-sided for only the quarter note flashcards.
- Or print pages 13-22 on 5 pieces of cardstock double-sided for only the whole note flashcards.
- Or print pages 3-22 on 10 pieces of cardstock double-sided for a full, diverse set of flashcards.
★ Print on white cardstock paper for a crisp, clean look
★ Or print on light-colored cardstock paper for a more fun look
★ Use different colors for different pages or sets to keep yourself organized
★ Once cut out, each flashcard measures a little over 2.75" x 3.5"
Why include quarter note AND whole note flashcards?
In a nutshell--differentiation!
★ Students who are just learning note-reading may find it easier to read notes with stems.
★ These same students may need a push to stop relying on stems and may benefit from a switch to whole notes.
★ Other students find the visible line inside of the note a helpful tool in note recognition.
★ And these same students may later benefit from a switch to quarter notes to build upon their beginning note-reading skills.
★ Or combine the two types of flashcards for a student who needs the extra challenge.
