Original composition by Phoenix Vera.
Mid-September brings us to the Autumnal Equinox, one of the two days in the calendar year when day and night (light and dark) are equal.
This minimalist, new age piece invites students to create a calming, repetitive motion with the right hand and gentle moving triads in the left hand.
Halfway through, the left hand takes over repeating arpeggios while the right hand gently holds moving 6ths.
Chord symbols are included above the grand staff. Helpful finger numbers hints are included throughout and show moves.
Students will be challenged by:
- Pedal lifts
- Moving triad shapes including B-flat major
- Flexible wrist motion for repeating three-note patterns in both hands
- Voicing to the dominant hand (first right, then later left)
- Moving 6ths in the right hand
This piece is taken out of my method book for teens & adults: Chord First Book 2.
Level: Elementary to Late Elementary (Level 2-3)
Length: 2 pages
Performance Time: 1-2 minutes
Occasion: Study/Lead Sheet Study/Autumn/Fall
